The book is called Simone's Battle. It has a target age range of ten to twelve. It is about a girl living with her single father. Her mother had died years earlier. The problem is that she copes with her problems in a fantasy world and her father prefers to live entirely in the real world which leads to problems. They just can't relate to one another and Simone's father is convinced that Simone is headed towards disaster if she can't start dealing with reality, and Simone does not like the woman her father is dating.
When my Mom first read it she thought it might be to intense for the intended age group. After all it deals with some serious things, like racism, cancer, and AIDS. The thing is this life is ruff and we can't hide are kids from it. To shelter our kids from the realities of life is both not practicle and counter productive. We should show are kids the realities of life in their proper context so they can attain these skills needed to overcome any obsticals and succeed in life.
If you have never read my book I would love for you to give it a try. For any of you who have read it let me have a comment and tell me what you think. You can be honest too. I welcome critisism. You can't improve if you don't know what the problem is.
I have some more manuscripts I am working on getting published but right now this is my only one.
