This is what happened. It was in Jimmers senior year and Brandon Davies was suspended just before post season which pretty much ended BYU's chances at a national championship. He had violated no NCAA rule but had violated BYU's honor code. The school could have just covered it up and no one would have been the wiser, but BYU had integrity. I love it that I belong to a church that cares enough about its own integrity that it would give up a chance at it's first basketball national championship to hold to its es posed principles. The next month a taxi cab driver talked about how he was able to share the gospel because of the event.
To all of you Cougar fans out there. If we look for out we can find all sorts of ways to spread the gospel through BYU's sports. That should help alleviate our guilt for obsessive behavior we all know we are about to exhibit. I believe that spreading the gospel is one of the reason's that sports is a big part of BYU and we as average fans can be a part of that.
Have a great night and may all of your teams do well this season.
