Although the combination of Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dike was pure comic genius her she continued to bring comic genuis to the small screen with the Mary Tyler More show.
Despite the fact that she was a great comedic actress her greatest accomplishments were off the screen. She and her husband established MTM Enterprises in 1969. It produced several popular shows under there leadership in the 1970's some of the notable series include, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Rhoda, The Lou Grant Show, and WKRP in Cincinnati, just to name a few.
Then in the years of 1981 and 1982 MTM Enterprises redefined TV with a slew of hits. 1981 gave us Hill street Blues that changed cop shows forever and in 1982 it gave us St. Elsewhere which was a black medical comedy. Also the same year they made Remington Steele and Newhart. All had long runs and lasting impacts. On a personal note my favorite was Remington Steele.
Mary Tyler Moore was so i9mpactful it would take me all night to recount everything she has given to our nation and culture she will be missed. But her work will be with us for as long as we will let it be with us. I still hold up the Dick Van Dyke Show as one of the greatest comedies to have ever been made. I guess it is that role that really defines her in my eye's. That is the first time I had ever seen her in anything and that is what I will remember.
I will for ever have a special place in my heart for Mary Tyler Moore..
