Just losing Ash is bad enough. Now they have to rely on their run first back-up quarterback and their talented running backs. If that wasn't bad enough, their starting center, probably the best player on the offense was injured in their last game. Plus two more members of the offensive line have had suspensions that will keep them out of the game. Now they have to rely on an offensive line that has four or five starts between them. The offensive line is so important for an offense, and they not only will be starting one of the youngest and least experienced offensive lines in college football, but they have not been practicing together for the last month or two in camp and such so they have no cohesion. Nowhere in all of football is cohesion more important than in the offensive line. When this happens to a team it usually struggles mightily, especially in the first game that they have to make the adjustments.
Of course you always have to respect your opponents, and the moment you think that you will blow someone out is the moment that you get upset. I believe we will get the victory, but I have to keep my expectations in check. I need to be realistic. The Cougars have to avoid overconfidence and then they should be fine.
These aspects our important in our lives. Self confidence helps us and is essential to success. If you don't believe me, watch "Cypher in the Snow," but.cockiness can be our undoing. I think the key is perspective. If you realize you are a child of God and you have weaknesses but that with God all things are possible, it will make everything more achievable in your life. If you really our convinced that you are the bee's knees (I have never understood that phrase, if anyone can explain it to me please do), it can and often will set you up for the fall. Soon I will post my feelings about the way we teach self-esteem. The point is that we need stay away from overconfidence in every aspect of our lives, especially in our obsessive roles as sports fans.
GO COUGS!!!!!!!!
