What really upsets me is we are in the midst of a huge story, or what should be a huge story. What should be a major scandal and almost no one is talking about it I admit it is a rather knew story and sometimes it takes a while for people to pick up a story. It's not like it's been around for over a year or anything. Oh wait a second it has.
I will try to be as accurate as I can but it is a bit confusing after all. Alright, the feds were investigating fake sports merchandise being sold as authentic. Things like a helmet of Eli Manning that he wore in the Super Bowl. Several memorabilia dealer were indicted and they all plead guilty except for one, a man by the name Eric Inselberg. Inselburg claimed he was innocent and all of the Giants merchandise he had sold to other were legitimately procured through the Giants organization. The FBI continued to investigate the matter and eventually dropped all charges against Mr. Inselburg.
Inselburg is now suing the Giants organization. He is claiming that the giants were selling a bunch of merchandise claiming that it was worn in games when in fact it had not been. People in the organization would make it look like it had been worn in a game when it was brand knew. Why? allegedly the players wanted to keep them for themselves, but also wanted to pick up a few thousand extra dollars here and their by selling them. Not only that the suit claims that the Giants organization convinced members of it's organization to lie to the FBI to save their own jobs and to protect the team. Eli Manning is specifically named, and they accuse him of knowing of the fraud and participating in it so he could keep the merchandise that he wanted to keep.
So if these allegations are true we are looking at very serious a fraud targeting their own fans and impeding a federal investigation. It Implicates key members of the organization including the quarterback and the chief counsel as well. Even though the initial arrest were back in 2013 and the story has been out their for more than a year very few people have ever heard of the story and no one from the major sports media has stepped forward and latched on to this story. Instead here months of stories about this and that.
The team has taken no action and neither has the league. They say we will wait to see what happens through the legal channels. Really when does that ever happen. The league intervenes in peoples personal lives before charges are filled all the time and it can't conduct an internal investigation on a team defrauding its own fans and all the while falsifying official NFL equipment and jerseys and all the time doing so in the name of the NFL.
The point of this blog is I am just one average ordinary guy trying to do the right thing. The way this story is being covered up is not right.
So let's stand up. Get on face book get on Twitter and spread the story. This should be huge. So let's make it huge! Conning loyal fans our of hard earned money is not good not right.
So let's stand up for honesty. If it's some Wall Street bum defrauding little old ladies out of their pensions it is evil incarnate, but if it is a quarterback who makes millions of dollars who cares? Is that where we are as a society?
Well I care. Go ahead everybody show me how much you all care.
