"Being a modern man today is no different than it was a century ago. It’s all about adhering to principle. Sure, fashion, technology and architecture change over time, as do standards of etiquette, not to mention ways of carrying oneself in the public sphere. But the modern man will take the bits from the past that strike him as relevant and blend them with the stuff of today."
The problem is there is no real principle in any of it. It reminds me a little of the man show. Don't get me wrong the man show was the opposite of this list in many ways, but in both cases being a man is all at the surface level.
"1. When the modern man buys shoes for his spouse, he doesn’t have to ask her sister for the size. And he knows which brands run big or small."
Really what principle does this speak about. If a man is not an expert in women footwear it does not take away from his masculinity. Who cares if someone needs help in shopping for his wife. Even his rules that are supposed to be old school are still silly and surfaced based.
"4. The modern man doesn’t cut the fatty or charred bits off his fillet. Every bite of steak is a privilege, and it all goes down the hatch." I guess eating steaks is considered manly but this is way to trivial to make my list.
If being this shallow is what it takes to be a modern man I do not want to be a modern man. Of all 27 points there is only two I think that are a really good add. Most I think are fine if you want to do it but are not a good test of an individuals manliness.
The two points I thought were truly principles based and excellent pieces of advice was "2. The modern man never lets other people know when his confidence has sunk. He acts as if everything is going swimmingly until it is." and 16. The modern man lies on the side of the bed closer to the door. If an intruder gets in, he will try to fight him off, so that his wife has a chance to get away.
There was also one that was just terrible. "25. The modern man has no use for a gun. He doesn’t own one, and he never will." What a modern man will keep himself in between his wife and an attacker but will not own a fire arm even though a firearm is the best way to protect his wife and children. Someone breaks in to your house and has a gun you have a use for a gun. You see some punk raping your next door neighbor and you have a use for a gun. I understand many people don't like guns, but having one does not make you less of a man.
If this is what it takes to be a modern man no thank you. I will let anyone say chopper if they want and not judge their intelligence for it. I will prefer to be a real man. I know that I am not perfect at the list I have created but I strive to be. These are the things that I hope to do or become. So I have compiled a list of 27 ways to be a real man, and these really are based off principles. I hope you enjoy.
Here are my 27 ways to be a real man.

22. A real man will not let anyone walk all over him, including his wife.
23. A real man will do anything to protect his wife and children even if it means dying for them.
24. A real man will get a firearm because it is the best way to protect his family.
25. A real man will make sure that his wife knows how to use a firearm and that she has access to them so that she can protect herself and their kids.
26. A real man prays, and his children see him pray.
27. A real man knows that his actions are far more important than his words.
I know this list is sadly incomplete. There are so many other things I could have put on my list. I could have made two or three other lists just as long as this one with just as important items on it. Who knows maybe I will write those posts at a later date. Life isn't about knowing you are better than everyone else but rather knowing your own weaknesses and striving to become a better person. I suppose that that is the real principle that being a real man is based off of. Have a great day.
If you like this post share it with somebody. We must get the word out about what being a real man is. Also leave your comments. Thanks!
