I explained to her that everyone is a child of God and we should show love to everyone. I have also tried to feel and show more of that love myself. I explained we should still fight for what we think is right, but remember at the end of the day that everyone is a child of our Heavenly Father and we need to remember that.
There is a strange phenomenon and it is not just relegated to politics either. A number of years ago someone was telling me that she thought the real killers in the OJ Simpson matter was Kato Kaelin. She had a nice intricate theory but not one bit of evidence. I thought then is it OK to accuse some one else of murder without any evidence just because they are famous?
Perhaps she thought it was fine, because she was just one person and no one would here her and her her words could have no real impact. That may have been true back then but today with social media we have no such excuse. Today we have to hold ourselves more accountable.
I think when we don't know each other personally we can forget that celebrities are people too and we can hurt people we have never met.
My kids love the biggest loser and are helping me with an excessive routine to help me get into shape. There is a contestant on this season by the name of Scott Mitchel. I was telling my younger brother about this season and specifically about Scott, and he told me he had heard of Scott. Actually he told that he felt bad for Scott because he what Scott was most famous for among hard core football fans. Some put him on lists of worst starting QB's and the like. According to my brother some of the things that have been said are really harsh.
I couldn't help but wonder if seeing a constant run of harsh criticism couldn't have helped Scott's slide into self destructive weight gain. Now I know that we all need to learn to take criticism and not let it affect us, and a lot of the responsibility falls on the shoulders of the one who takes the words to heart, but not all of it. We are supposed to be nice to everyone even famous people. Although we can be honest about the abilities of sports stars we should still be as nice as we can about it.
Everyone is a child of God and he forgets about no one. Even the ones which are openly rebelling against his truth, are his children and should be loved. Our benevolent Heavenly Father never gave up on Saul of Tarsus, not when he through the saints in prison, not when he aided the men who killed Stephen and not when he went to Damascus to persecute the saints there. No that's when the Lord appeared to Saul and set him on the path to become the great apostle Paul.
No matter what someone does or how they act, we can never really tell what the Lord may have in store for them and their lives. Pharaoh had a dream that Joseph interpreted as a prophesy that saved thousands of lives. The king of Babylon had a dream that a prophet interpreted that helped supply a road map to the history of nations. The Lord can use anyone and we will only see his plans when we don't don't judge others.
We always need to remember the Lords admission to a prophet of God, when the prophet was using his own wisdom to judge and discern. "Man judges on the outward appearances, but the Lord judges the heart."
Let's grow the love in our own hearts, and be a good example so the love will grow in the hearts of our children.
