So we were out collecting fairy stamps and my oldest she's twelve kept slowing us down. In Lexington there are bricks in the sidewalks that have dates and historical facts on them. There are also plaques on the side of buildings that give historical information about those buildings. So my daughter was slowing our hunt for fairies with history.
I told her that we needed to move along. Partially because her younger siblings wanted to find those fairies and partially because of my own health problems I can't stay on my feet for too long. But I promised here that someday when I was up to it we would comeback and do a walking history tour. She was satisfied with this pledge and we moved on.
Later when she was explaining to her mother about what had happened she asked if this walking history tour could count as school. Her mother and I responded in unison with one word "Absolutely."
I am so excited that she is so excited about history. It is also great that she thought of a worthwhile school activity. Now my other children are looking forward to it as well. I might even let my twelve year old plan it since it was her idea.
