They had gone throughout the town looking for fairies in local stores collecting fairy stamps until their cards were filled out. Then all of their cards were put into a drawing to win a really nice fairy cottage. They didn't win, but in the end they had so much fun, it wasn't so bad that someone got the cottage.
This was such a great idea. The local businesses got some great exposure, I know I found some really neat little shops that I would like to visit in the future. Boxerwood received a lot more visitors than they normally would, and the kids had a blast.
I think we need more community building activities. In this day and age of internet fame and social media, we don't do enough face to face anymore. Activities like this one are too rare any more, but are a great way to get kids off the computers and out into the community and into nature.
May we all work to build more of a sense of community in our lives. I am not talking about internet communities, either, although there is nothing wrong with using the internet and social networks. We can't let it cut us off from the real personal ties that built the western world.
Love to all of you and good night.
